The Council's Letter and Peace with Antioch

Acts 15:22-35

Chapter 15
22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas—Judas, the one called Barsabbas, and Silas, men leading among the brothers. 23 having written by their hand: "The apostles and the elders, brothers, to the brothers in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia, the ones from the Gentiles, greetings." 24 Since we heard that some from us had gone out and disturbed you with words, overturning your souls—to whom we did not give instructions— 25 It seemed good to us, having become unanimous, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have handed over their souls for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will announce the same things by word. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things, 29 to abstain from idol-sacrifices, blood, strangled things, and sexual immorality—from which, if you keep yourselves well, you will do well. Farewell. 30 So then those who had been released went down to Antioch. Having gathered the multitude, they gave them the letter. 31 And having read it, they rejoiced over the divine consolation. 32 Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets, exhorted the brothers and strengthened them with much word. 33 But after they had spent time there, they were released with peace from the brothers to those who had sent them. 35 But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and proclaiming the word of the Lord with many others.
